RESISTANCE MUSEUM

This Museum, located in an old heritage building at Akershus Fortess, is the result of an initiative taken by some of the men and women involved in the Resistance during the Second World War. Among other things, it aims "to convey a true and authentic picture of the years of German occupation".

Chronological exhibition convey an historical perspective, from pre-war times to the liberation in May 1945. English and Norwegian explanatory texts bring authentic documents, photographs, posters and artifacts together. Several shoecases, as well as film clips and audio tapes of important speeches animate the exhibitions. Symbolic effects, artistic details and authentic details and objects make the 200 metre long walk through narrow 17th century stone vaults a maorable and educational experience. The War Memorial next to the museum has a plaque listing the names of Norwegian patriotsshot on this spot during the occupation (1940-45).
