ASTRUP FEARNLY MUSEUM OF MODERN ART

A 5- to 10-minute walk from the Oslo City Hall, this museum showcases postwar art. The changing exhibits concentrate on Norwegian artists and on foreigners. The displays come from the museum's collection, with some items from other museums in rotating exhibits. You might see work by the late Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud, Gethard Richter, or less familiar Norwegians, including Arne Ekeland, Knut Rose, or Bjørn Carlsen. The museum, which has large, airy, well-lit display areas, was created by some of Norway's leading architects and designers.
