WILDLIFE PARKS

KRISTIANSAND DYREPARK

Few parks cover such a variety as Kristiansand Dyrepark, which is why the Zoo like to call themselves "The Living Park". Just 11 km east of Kristiansand you will find the most beautiful and natural zoo, with scenery and environment in abundance.

Kristiansand Dyrepark is Norway´s most frequently visited attraction covering an area of 150 acres of wild Nordic terrain. It is totally different from other European zoos, which are characterised by bars and heavy padlocks.

In Kristiansand Dyrepark, the animals have wide open spaces in which to roam - however, the visitors are still able to get up close to observe some of the most beautiful animals - like the red panda, which is threatened by extinction. The first part of the rain forest is alive with a variety of apes and monkeys. One of the park´s latest attractions is an open air area where some of the smaller monkeys run wild amongst the trees and climbling areas and swing on the ropes while you can move amongst them!

VASSFARET BEAR PARK

The Vassfaret Bear Park has 6-8 bears. There are paths encircling the whole bear fence. There is also a moose and deer area, and a bird pond. Children may visit the rabbit and chicken villages. The Vassfartun has buildings in which you may buy waffles, various cakes and coffee, as well as see different handcrafts being demonstrated. The wildlife park on RV 7, in Flå.

POLAR PARK

The world´s northernmost wildlife park with the four large predators from the Polar fauna: Brown bears, wolves, lynx and wolverines. The wolverine is in the symbol of the township. Elk (moose), deer, reindeer, Arctic fox, badgers, farm animals and birds are some of the other animals you can see and experience here. The animals have lots of room to romp about and the area is large, so you should have plenty of time to enjoy your "safari". There are also areas where you can barbecue, ride horses, play miniature golf or just relax. The park is adapted for wheelchair users. The wildlife park lies in Salangsdalen.
