The University of Oslo is Norway´s largest and oldest institution of higher education. You can find institutions of higher education located all over Norway. The major cities may have both a university and various university colleges. In addition to regular programmes like humanities, social sciences and natural sciences, every institution has their own specialty areas.

The Norwegian school system can be divided into three parts: Elementary school (Barneskole, ages 6-13), Lower secondary school (Ungdomsskole, ages 13-16), and Upper secondary school (Videregående skole, ages 16-19). Elementary and Lower secondary school are mandatory for all children aged 6–16.

The 17th of May, Norwegian Constitution Day, is mainly the children´s day. Throughout the country children are parading to celebrate that Norway is an independent country.
